Amt Model Kits

Would it be possible for me to get a part for a discontinued Star Trek 1:1400 Enterprise D model kit?

I have a model kit of the Enterprise D from Star Trek the Next Generation. The kit was released in 1987, is 1/1400 scale Plastic Model Kit with the item number AMT 6619. Anyways, a few days ago the cleaning lady came to clean house and knocked the model off of the Display Stand, breaking the stand. I am unable to recover all of the parts of the stand and need to replace it. My question is: whether or not I can purchase just the display stand and if so, where can I do so, or if replacing the stand would require me to purchase an entire model kit just for those few parts that make up the display stand?

EBay would be your best bet for finding a replacement for the model. It's not so easy to find replacement parts for models, but if you do a search for web forum on modeling you might get lucky. Starshipmodeler.com might have some options, too. Most dedicated modelers pride themselves on their ability to repair and replace parts with putty, paint and styrene. There aren't too many kit parts that can't be duplicated reasonably with enough effort. Although, if it's that transparent stand, you might have to paint it to do that. Of course, you could do what I used to do with my AMT Enterprise: suspend it from the ceiling by strings.
